Client Abcam plc
The brief Abcam is a producer and distributor of research-grade antibodies and associated products with a vision to build the largest online catalogue of the best antibodies in the world. Following a guided tour of the Abcam offices and labs, we wrote a brief based on our own thoughts of the company, in conjunction with our client's input.
What we did The design reflected Abcam's culture much more than previous year's and we created a friendlier feel by including a number of staff throughout. We gave a better overview of exactly what the company does with three spreads upfront - 'What Abcam offers', 'Who Abcam supports' and 'How Abcam operates'.
Factoids and snapshots added another level of information and highlighted the company's performance. Abcam provides what is essentially an online antibody catalogue so we encouraged them to go with an online version of the annual report and we also helped design, produce and print their analyst presentation.

Abcam wanted more guidance with the marketing in their report as, in their view, the 2009 report looked tired and dated. We had fun providing a report that was both original and informative.
