A junior-level role at the heart of our fast-developing digital business

Design Portfolio is seeking a motivated and task-oriented individual to join the growing development team in our London office. You’ll have a solid grasp of PHP, HTML5 and CSS and be looking to put these to good use in an agency environment.

This role is open to candidates seeking a permanent or short to mid-term contract.


Main responsibilities

Reporting to the team’s Development Manager, you will primarily be responsible for managing day-to-day updates across a number of our clients’ websites and taking the lead on the end-to-end build and deployment of small to mid-level build projects, working in a project team of designers, QA and project managers.

As a growing business with an ever-evolving digital offer, it is imperative that you possess a can-do attitude and won’t have a problem getting stuck in. You might not be the finished article but your inquisitive nature and willingness to challenge the status quo will help us to drive forward the continual improvement of our product

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or individual at the early stages of their career to take up an important role in the digital team with the scope to progress to senior levels.

Essential requirements

For this role, we are looking for a candidate who has experience and exposure with the following:

  • PHP-based content management systems (Concrete5, Wordpress, Joomla, etc.)
  • Bootstrap – or experience of working within a CSS framework, specifically responsive websites
  • HTML5/CSS3
  • JavaScript, jQuery
  • OO PHP
  • MySQL or another database language
  • Attention to detail and motivation to learn

Additional but non-requisite skills

  • A degree in computer science (or similar background) would be beneficial
  • Experience with Adobe creative suite
  • Apache/nginx webserver configuration/maintenance experience
  • Cloud hosting experience
  • Linux Command Line experience
  • Familiarity with project management systems (Jira, Trello, etc.)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment
  • UX/usability experience
  • QA and testing strategies
  • Ability to debug and test code across multiple devices/browsers

Main responsibilities

As a secondary point of contact to our clients, our Account Executives help manage designated projects on a day-to-day basis, providing support to our client services team in the smooth production of our projects.

Your main responsibilities would be to:

  • Assist the client services team in the administration and production of client projects.
  • Update timetables and help to update these in line with key milestones. Develop an understanding of timetables to enable the creation of first draft timetables.
  • Monitor and update project administration and support the client services team with ad hoc admin requests.
  • Assist with production/resource planning for client projects.
  • Liaise with registrars to create mail-out questionnaires for client post-outs.
  • Update weekly agendas and attendance at weekly production meetings.
  • Check in client amends throughout the proofing process to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality at all stages.

Requirements

For this role, we are looking for a candidate who:

  • has a university degree (preferably English, business or media related) or relative experience. Candidates who lack professional qualifications or training should have proof of working in a busy corporate communications/agency environment;
  • has a can-do attitude, is organised and is a highly proactive administrator; has an in-depth knowledge of
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; is aware of the importance of client/customer relationships; and
  • has excellent attention to detail.

Design Portfolio is seeking an enthusiastic and bright-minded person to join our growing team, with a can-do attitude, a strong focus on customer service and an excellent attention to detail.

Main responsibilities

As one of the main points of contact for our clients, the Account Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth production of projects – from briefing designers, strategists and copywriters, to managing budgets and, where applicable, working with the Account Director/Account Executive on the project.

Your main responsibilities would be:

  • Primarily responsible for the management of relationships with clients and liaising with clients at a senior level on a day-to-day basis (either alongside AD or as main point of contact where no AD). As one of the main points of contact for clients, the Account Manager also co-ordinates the resources needed to service projects and balances the expectations of clients with the execution of each project.
  • Leading a team to provide the utmost level of client service.
  • Understand and manage effectively the print, digital and production process and approvals internally and externally, including: proofing, and liaising with the print, digital and mailing teams.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow our corporate communications partnerships with our clients.
  • Helping to co-ordinate the team to push clients creatively and strategically.
  • Working with the pitch team with research and preparing for, and attending, pitches for prospective clients.
  • Creating timetables and then monitoring and updating key milestones, as necessary, to ensure projects are completed within the agreed and required timeframes.
  • Overview and management of project budget, including management of time allocation and monitoring of project specification to ensure the project remains within the initial scope, and that any specification changes are charged for accordingly.
  • Production planning for your team within the production calendars and overview of team production list.
  • Preparing weekly agenda and attendance at weekly production meetings.
  • Overseeing all design and content changes to projects to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality at all stages. Checking in client amends throughout the proofing process.

Requirements

For this role, we are looking for a candidate who:

  • has a university degree (preferably English, business or media related) or related experience;
  • has experience of working in a corporate communications agency in a similar role;
  • has strong interpersonal and communication skills, and is committed to the importance of client/customer relationships;
  • has a can-do attitude, is organised and is a highly proactive administrator;
  • has an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and
  • has excellent attention to detail.

Quality Assurance/Proofer in corporate communications: an integral role at the heart of our fast-developing business

Design Portfolio is seeking an enthusiastic and bright-minded person to join our growing team, with an aptitude for the English language and an excellent attention to detail.

Main responsibilities

We pride ourselves on the quality of the work we deliver to our clients, with a strong attention to detail running throughout everything we do. The Quality Assurance/Proofer role is therefore an integral part of our day-to-day operations. A four-month fixed-term role for our busier season (with the flexibility to be extended), the Quality Assurance/Proofer would be responsible for monitoring the standard of the work produced, ensuring consistency, accuracy and quality throughout our projects. This role requires a paid training period of up to two weeks in December, with the fixed-term contracted running from January to April.

Your main responsibilities would be to:

  • Assist the Client Services team in the production of client projects.
  • Check that content has accurately transferred from the original format in to the designed file (print and digital).
  • Check in client amends throughout the proofing process to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality at all stages.
  • Oversee design and content changes to projects to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality at all stages.

Requirements

For this role, we are looking for a candidate who:
