Last Saturday, adventurous members of the Design Portfolio team returned to the canals of Broxbourne for the annual boat trip social. The weather remained in our favour this year with the warm sun glistening off the tranquil waters and clear skies as far as the eye could see. It was certainly a welcome bank holiday break after a very busy summer in the office.
Our Head of Production, Scary Carey, took to teaching the newcomers how to open and close the heavy locks whilst the experienced sailors manned the drinks cooler.
The original plan was to visit five pubs along the river, a similar strategy to last year’s expedition.
The team worked fluidly together on the locks all day with plenty of laughs and sing-a-longs to go around. However, time inevitably got the better of us once again and the plan had to be re-evaluated to more quality time in four pubs. We didn’t complain too much!
Everyone had a go at steering the boats too and although there were a few small collisions none of the rum was damaged.
At the last pub, the team of jolly sailors all enjoyed well deserved burgers before heading back up the river. It was a very enjoyable day full of fun, laughs and lots of teamwork! We very much look forward to the next Design Portfolio trip.
