Last week, on Thursday 15 March, we were delighted to sponsor and attend the annual PLC Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London. Often described as ‘the’ City event of the year, the PLC Awards are aimed at all quoted companies listed on the main market, encompassing the FTSE 100, FTSE 250, FTSE Small Cap and Fledgling indices.
Attended by over 700 guests including CEOs, CFOs, investment bankers, fund managers, analysts and corporate advisors, the PLC Awards never fails to attract the cream of the crop. Our client Tyman plc won the Growth Award and we were pleased that Tullow Oil plc, Petra Diamonds Ltd and Marshalls Group plc were shortlisted for ‘Best Investor Communication Award’. Our client Wizz Air Holdings plc was also shortlisted in the ‘Company of the Year’ category.
Design Portfolio hosted a VIP reception, three tables of guests and clients and sponsored the ‘Transformation of the Year’ Award. The award was presented by Design Portfolio’s Managing Director, Julie Wilford, and jointly won this year by KAZ Minerals plc and Future plc.
A full list of the winners can be found here.
The evening concluded with a terrific comedy set from Rob Brydon and culminated in an excellent opportunity to network and connect with industry peers and colleagues past and present.
Media Partner, The Financial Times, produced a special digital report particularly focusing on the CEO of the Year Award: ‘PLC Awards: productivity propels Ashtead’s Drabble to CEO of year’.
Congratulations again to all of the participants. We look forward to the success stories of next year!

Increasing interest in social investment
There is no doubt that the future of society lies in the hands of the people that live in it. Over the past decade there has been a slow, steady and yet perceptible shift in awareness regarding the importance of community and the idea that ‘giving back’ to society can benefit everyone including a business’ bottom line.

With MiFID II now in full effect, we see an opportunity for companies to take control and provide the buy-side with rich, accessible and informative online content.
